About FHS Stars Minimize

The STARS:

The Award-Winning STARS Dance Team is a dance performance company composed of 9th through 12th graders at Frisco High School.  The team is organized with officers, social chairs, and managers that have specific duties within the company.  The officers help the director lead, teach, and choreograph.  Some professional choreography is used to accompany the teams thirty plus routines annually as with all other FHS Drill Teams.

The STARS most notably perform at each FHS Varsity Football game in the stands and on the field during the half-time show.  Performances consist of jazz, kick and pom  routines.  Additionally, The STARS perform a jazz or hip-hop style routine for each of the school pep rallies in football season. The pep rally routines have become well known to watch for. While these performances are at the heart of the STARS Dance Team, the STARS have many more school, public and semi professional opportunities to perform throughout the year in addition to competition season and end-of-year Stars Dance Team Spring Show Spectacle.  The spring show showcases most of the years work.

Auditions take place in April, immediately following the Stars Dance Team Spring Show Spectacle. Auditions are open to FHS students, incoming freshman and students new to FISD. All students must be in good academic standing and take part in the actual spring audition. Otherwise, they must audition the following school year. A mandatory meeting (“New Team Orientation”) will take place on the third Tuesday in March before the audition in April.  Please bring the necessary forms, included in the packet to this mandatory meeting (“New Team Orientation). The actual auditions in April concentrate on dance technique (double pirouettes, kicks, splits), performance and showmanship. The STARS officers perform and the STARS Director make audition packets available to Staley, Pioneer and Hunt M.S. students at their home school the week before Spring Break. Again, tryout Packets are made available to everyone at the front office of FHS at the same time.  Finally, only returning line members in good team standing from the current school year are allowed to audition for officer positions within the company.

The STARS are active in their community and participate in many civic events and fundraisers each year.  The dance clinic for elementary and middle school students and the Annual Frisco Family Services Food Drive are just two of their many annual civic activities.

Being a STAR brings a great responsibility as STARS are known throughout Frisco.  With a code of conduct, dance team members are held to a high standard on and off the field and performance area.  The STARS have a tradition of excellence and expect all team members to carry this legacy forward.
